Constitutional Challenge: Slot Machines on Ballot
Kramer & Connolly represented Stop Slots Maryland in challenging the slots ballot.Representing citizens concerned about deceptive language in a ballot question authorizing slot machines, Kramer & Connolly took the State of Maryland to court and forced officials to change the wording.  Although the Circuit Court agreed that the ballot language drafted by the Secretary of State was misleading, the three-judge panel only ordered the insertion of one word in an effort to cure this defect.  The Court of Appeals affirmed the ruling and the measure was ultimately approved by voters in the November 2008 General Election.
